Recycling in South Carolina State Government

General Services offers Recycling Programs in the Budget & Control Board Buildings. Inquiries regarding these programs may be directed to Wedrell Lee at 734-3531.

Some State agencies are housed in buildings not owned by the Budget & Control Board. Recycling Programs may be available in those buildings also. Check with the building management to find out what programs are available.

Inquiries about general pickup at buildings other than Budget & Control Board Buildings may be directed to: Recycling Coordinator, Division of Support Services, South Carolina Department of Corrections at 896-2364.

What Should Be Recycled
1. All White Paper, such as:
  1. Photocopy paper
  2. Envelopes (plain & window)
  3. Letters
  4. Fax Paper
  5. Ruled Notebook Paper
  6. Letterhead Stationery
  7. Memos
  8. Phone Messages
  9. Adding Machine Paper
  10. Shredded Paper

2. All Colored or Mixed paper, such as:
  1. Post it notes
  2. Tricolor Carbonless Forms
  3. Legal Pad Paper
  4. Manila Folders

3. All Cardboard, such as:
  1. Paste Board Boxes Candy Boxes
  2. Large Brown Envelopes
  3. Backs of Legal Pads
  4. Cigarette Cartons
  5. Card Stock
  6. Legal Files

4. Other Paper Recyclables, such as:
  1. Phone Books
  2. Green/Blue Bar Computer Paper
  3. Books (Hardback and Paperbacks)
  4. Magazines
  5. Newspapers

5. Other Recyclables, such as:
  1. Electrical Wire
  2. Aluminum
  3. Brass
  4. Ink Jet & Laser Cartridges
  5. HD Plastics
  6. Metal
  7. Copper
  8. Computers
  9. Pallets
  10. #10 Steel Cans (rinsed out)

  3. Styrofoam or Paper Cups
  4. Glass
  5. Candy Wrappers
  6. Document Covers
  7. Napkins or Tissue
  8. Wood
